The Missionaries in Wal-Mart

This story happened to be about a week ago and I had to share it!

The first full week of June I was finally had gotten permission from my doctor to be able to drive and do more for a week before going back to work. So Monday morning I got up, got ready, did some things around the house, ironed some clothes for Ron, and looked through the ads before heading out to Wal-Mart that afternoon.

It was a lot busier for a Monday afternoon then I thought it would be and I was hoping to get the few items I needed and leave. So I started in the produce and as quickly as I could with all the people there went from isle to isle checking the things off my list. While I was down one of the isles I noticed some missionaries at the other end dressed in their blacks slacks, white shirts, ties, back packs, and name tags. I smiled at them and wave and they returned the smile and wave back. I didn't think much of it and continued to do my shopping hardly noticing that this missionaries just happened to be going down almost every isle that I was going down.

But soon my list was complete and I headed to found the check out with the shortest line. I was able to find out very quickly, unloaded the ten or so items from my chart and as I was giving the cashier by ad matches I noticed that the missionaries were standing against the wall looking at me but was now without a cart. I looked at them and smiled but was wondering why they were there.

When I was done paying, had my bags in the cart, and started walking away they stopped me. "Excuse me Sister we are missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints." The older of the two missionaries introduced himself and I told him that I know and that I was a member. The older missionary smiled and spoke again. "Can we please help you to your car today?" I figured they were asking because they had watched my limp. I smiled and was about to tell them thank you but I was alright when I heard a voice saying let them walk you to the car. So instead I smiled and said okay. The younger of the two grabbed my three bags and they both moved to either side of me as I lead the way to my car.

As soon as we walked out the doors the older of the two looked at me and said. "We didn't want to alarm you but when we say you down the first isle we noticed a middle aged man that was watching you very closer. He gave both my companion and I an uneasy feeling and we followed you through the store and watched as this same man did the same never taking his eyes off of you. Then when we watched him follow you to the check out we went up to customer service and asked to leave our cart there for a few minutes and we would be right back" The younger of the two chimed in at this point "We knew without a doubt that we needed to walk you to your car and make sure you got there safely."

I was completely shocked! I knew it was busy at Wal-Mart but I liked to pride myself in knowing that I'm very good at watching my surrounding and the people around me. But when we told me about this I suddenly remembered this man that they spoke about and since he didn't go down a couple of the isles I was  on but was at the ends like he was walking by I didn't think anything of him. Tears were starting to fill up in my eyes and I was so overfilled with gratitude towards these amazing young men! We made it to my car and I took my three bags and put them into the back seat. I think turned to this men called of God and thanks them over and over again. They told me not to worry, they were welcome, and to be safe. I then smiled at both of them, got into my car, turned it out, drove away offering up a prayer of thanks to our Heavenly Father as these missionaries watched me drive away.

I was so grateful for them and that they were so in tuned to things going on. I don't want to think of what could have happened if they weren't but I'm so glad I will never have to find out!

Holy cow Kassi!! What a crazy experience. I got goosebumps reading this. Thank goodness that these missionaries had been staying in tune to the spir
it. Makes me hope that I am staying that in tune to be more aware of the things around me. Thanks for sharing this.
