Many people have commented on Rondalynn's name and how they like it and how unique it is.
Most people who know Ron and I know that we wanted names for our children that fit into six categories.
1. It has a meaning to us in some way.
2. It's unique.
3. It feels right for that baby.
4. We both love the name.
5. No family member or close friend has the same first and/or middle name.
and
6. It's a name that isn't so out there that they will be teased or anything like that.
Before having children you talk about names but you don't honestly realize how hard and how big of a decision you are making until you are pregnant and have a little one on the way that you will be naming.
It's a big deal choosing a name that will be with your child for their entire life!
It will be on official forms, certificates, awards, and so much more so you want to make sure it's a good name.
Before we got pregnant we talked about names we liked every so often and we knew where each of us stood on certain names and discovered other names that we liked or disliked. Honestly even though it was a big choice it was fun to talk about
Of course we started talking and narrowing names down once I got to my second trimester and by the time I was about 33 or 34 weeks we not only had a good idea of what we were going to name Rondalynn but we had the names for all of our other children and some alternatives if we get more boys or girls.
But just like we did during the pregnancy we aren't even giving hints on what these names are so you will just have to wait until each baby is born!
Hahahaha! I know we are evil!
Okay anyway back onto the main subject!
Since we get comments and questions about Rondalynn's name I decided to post this on both blogs to explain....................
Not just what's in a name but what's in our baby's name!
Rondalynn
As you all know her daddy's name is Ron but since her grandpa Truex passed away a few years before Ron and I even meet a lot of people don't know that his name was Ronnie.
Ron is named after his dad but since his dad didn't want a Ronnie Jr his mom decided to name him just Ron then he would be named after his dad but wouldn't be a Jr at the same time.
Since he was named after his dad and also since his dad has passed away Ron really wanted to carry on the tradition of naming one of our babies using some variation of Ron. But we were very much against doing the Jr as well and honestly their was no boy variation of Ron that I liked at all.
It was also important to me to have a girls name that is very girly. One that you would hear and know without a doubt that it's a girly name. At first no girl variation of the name Ron fit that and while I liked the name Ronnie for a girl it wasn't anywhere near girly and was more like a nickname or shorten version of a name for me.
We spent many a nights looking up and talking about ways we could turn or add Ron to a girl's name that was girly and we both liked, but nothing felt right to us and things we kinda like that we would say and toy with to see if it grew on us never grew and some we honestly ended up hating them by the end.
Then one night I was watching Sister Wives and one of the daughters is named Gwendolyn. I have heard and seen this name hundreds of times but something about hearing it that night hit me. I don't like the name Gwen but when I took that away, and added Ron to the front it was like a missing puzzle piece and suddenly the name felt completely right.
Ron was working at his desk in our room at the time and I asked him what he thought of the name Rondalynn.
He asked me to repeat it twice, said it over and over a few times, then a big smile lit up his face, and he said he liked it and we both knew that we had finally found the name for our daughter.
We then had to decided how to spell it which Ron put that ball completely into my court! So I got out my notebook and began writing out different ways to spell it.
For some reason I didn't like the "o" in it maybe because my name has the "a" sound in it so that was the first thing I changed. Then for some reason the name didn't look complete and I think it was because I don't like even numbers very much so I added another "n" and then it was perfect!
A beautiful and girly variation of a Ron name for our little girl!
Izabella
Before we even had her first name decided he had a list of middle names that we liked but once again they didn't feel right or grow on us.
After we picked our her name our list for middle names was narrowed down to a couple that would go with Rondalynn and add to her girly name that I had to have.
But the name Izabella or Isabella wasn't on that list at all!
I have always loved this name and the spelling with a "z" and for a long time growing up and in my early adulthood I honestly would have named a future daughter it because at the time it wasn't that popular of a name.
Then the Twilight books and movies came out and that all changed!
I honestly had counted one day at work one day in 2012 that we treated six little girls named Isabelle or Isabella in the ER, had three come in for outpatient procedures, and had five that was admitted at the time. All of them were five and under! It was then I that I crossed this name off any future baby list since I didn't want my daughter to be one of five kids in her kindergarten class with the same name!
After toying with middle names that went with Rondalynn we decided that we would wait until she was born to make sure first that the name Rondalynn fit her and then what middle name fit her with her first name.
When we were in recovery after my c-section we decided right away that she was our Little Rondalynn but both of the middle names we had liked that went with Rondalynn suddenly didn't fit or one or both of us didn't like it anymore.
Ron suggested the middle name Marie but it's one of the top three most popular middle names and it's also the middle name of my cousin Avlee so we quickly took that off the table.
We were both thinking and Ron must have be going over the names we had on our middle name list again. One of the names on the list was similar to Izabella and that must have been what gave him the idea because he suggested the name Isabella.
Once again it fit like the missing puzzle piece as soon as he said and we knew that, that was it. And when I said I would want to spell it with a "z" instead he liked it even more.
And just like that we had made the first biggest decision for our daughter by giving her the name..............
Rondalynn Izabella Truex
Lastly some fun things about her name you may not have realized!
*Her first name is exactly as long as her daddy's full name.
*Her full name is longer then her mommy's full name including my maiden name.
*She has at least one of each vowel in her whole name.
and
*She has the "hard to use" last three letters in the alphabet (x,y,z) in her name.
Hopefully you all enjoyed this long post and one day many year from now Rondalynn will enjoying reading and learning the meanings and reason behind her name as well.
And of course I will do a post like this for each one of our babies for everyone to enjoy!
